At Livedale, we pride ourselves on offering a friendly, flexible service that makes us easy to work with. Our customer service team is always ready to go above and beyond to make sure all your upholstery needs are met — just as we always have since 1960.

Our History

Livedale Foam & Sundries Ltd was established in 1960 by five former Dunlop employees, pioneers in the early days of foam development. These were craftsmen who believed in quality, loyalty, and hard work — principles that still form the backbone of Livedale today.
Over the decades, we built a strong reputation for supplying high-quality foam and sundries to the upholstery trade, earning the trust and loyalty of customers across the country.

By 1993, only two of the original founders remained — Bill and Fred. That year, Fred sold his shares to Bill’s son-in-law, Ian, ensuring the business stayed firmly in the family. The partnership thrived until 1997, when Bill retired and passed his shares to his daughter Sue, who had already become a vital part of the business. From that point on, Livedale became a true husband-and-wife operation.

In 2000, Ian and Sue’s son Matt joined the business, continuing the proud family tradition into a new generation. His wife Helen joined the company in 2013, and following Sue and Ian’s retirement in 2021, Matt and Helen now proudly lead Livedale into the future.

As the company grew, so did our needs. By 2011, we had outgrown our original Farnworth premises. After an extensive search, we moved into a brand-new factory in Wigan in May 2012, followed by the purchase of two additional units to accommodate our continued expansion.

Over the last 11 years, our team has grown from a close-knit group of 7 to a strong workforce of over 40, without ever losing the family spirit that sets us apart.
We've invested heavily in the business — installing a CNC cutting machine, bringing fibre and feather cushion production in-house, and expanding our fleet of vehicles to better serve our customers up and down the country.

This exciting step allows us to expand our reach and serve a wider range of customers, bringing our trusted service and quality products to even more people — while staying true to the values that have guided us for over six decades.
