Feather & Fibre Cushion Replacements
Made to Measure Cushion Interiors for Sofas, Chairs & Soft Furnishings
Refresh tired sofa cushions, chair cushions and soft furnishings with made to measure feather and fibre cushion replacements, designed to restore softness, shape and comfort to existing cushion covers.
This category brings together our replacement cushion interiors for seat cushions, back cushions, shaped sofa cushions, bolster cushions and scatter cushions. Whether your covers are square, rectangle, T shape, L shape, equal sided taper or bolster style, choose the product that matches your cushion shape and enter your cover measurements into the calculator boxes provided.
Feather, feather/down and hollow fibre fillings give a softer, fuller and more relaxed appearance than foam. They are ideal for customers who prefer a plumper, more traditional cushion finish rather than the firmer, sharper and more structured feel of foam interiors.
Available filling options vary depending on the cushion shape and product selected, so always check the options shown on the individual product page before ordering.
Choose the Right Cushion Shape
To get the best fit, start by choosing the product that matches your existing cushion cover shape. The current range includes replacement cushion interiors and scatter cushion options for:
Square and rectangle back cushions
T shape back cushions
L shape back cushions
Equal sided taper seat cushions
Equal sided taper back cushions
Square and rectangle seat cushions
T shape seat cushions
L shape seat cushions
Bolster cushion interiors
Custom scatter cushions and covers
Luxury feather scatter cushions
Luxury fibre scatter cushions
Choosing the correct shape matters. Feather and fibre fillings need to sit properly inside the cover, especially on shaped cushions where the filling must spread into corners, returns, tapered sections or rounded bolster ends.
Feather, Feather & Down and Hollow Fibre Options
Different fillings give a different feel, appearance and level of softness. The best choice depends on how you want the cushion to look, how you want it to sit, and how much regular plumping you are happy to do.
Available options may include European 302 Duck Feather, 85/15 Feather & Down, 70/30 Feather & Down and 100% Hollow Fibre, depending on the product selected.
European 302 Duck Feather
European 302 Duck Feather is a traditional feather filling with a soft, relaxed feel and good natural loft. It is a good choice for customers who want a classic feather cushion with a plump, comfortable finish.
85/15 Feather & Down
The 85/15 Feather & Down blend contains 85% feather and 15% down. This gives a softer, more luxurious feel than standard feather alone, making it a strong choice where comfort, softness and a fuller appearance are the main priorities.
70/30 Feather & Down
The 70/30 Feather & Down blend contains 70% feather and 30% down. This is a softer, more indulgent option for customers looking for a premium cushion feel with a relaxed, fuller finish.
100% Hollow Fibre
Hollow fibre is a synthetic, feather-free filling option. It gives a soft, plump and lightweight cushion feel, making it suitable for customers who want a fibre-filled alternative to feather or feather/down.
Seat Cushions vs Back Cushions
Seat cushions and back cushions do not always need the same type or amount of filling.
Seat cushions usually need enough loft and support to cope with regular use, while still giving the softer, relaxed feel expected from feather or fibre. Back cushions can often be softer and fuller-looking because they are used more for comfort and support than direct seating pressure.
That is why several products in this range are separated into seat cushion interiors and back cushion interiors. Choose the version that matches how your cushion is used, not just the shape of the cover.
How to Measure Your Cushion Covers
For the best result, measure the empty cushion cover, not the old cushion insert.
Lay the cover flat and measure from seam to seam. Do not pull the cover tight, and do not rely on the old feather, fibre or foam interior, as old inserts can become compressed, stretched, misshapen or uneven over time.
Once you enter your cover measurements into the calculator boxes, we calculate the correct level of filling required for the cushion. This means you do not need to work out the filling quantity yourself.
Swapping from Foam to Feather or Fibre
If you are replacing old foam interiors with feather or fibre, please contact us before ordering.
Foam, feather and fibre all behave differently inside a cushion cover. Foam gives a fixed, structured shape, while feather and fibre need room to loft, move and settle. In some cases, the cover size, border width, fabric type or desired fullness may affect the best filling approach.
A quick check before ordering can help avoid a cushion that is too full, too flat or not right for the cover. As always, measure twice and order once. Not glamorous, but it saves grief.
Fuller Looking Cushions with Softer Loft
Feather and fibre cushion interiors are usually made to look fuller than foam equivalents.
Rather than copying the thickness of an old foam cushion, we estimate the required loft based on the cover size and border depth. As a guide, a cushion cover with a 7.5cm border may need a finished cushion loft of around 15cm to achieve the correct plump appearance.
This is because feather and fibre fillings compress, settle and spread differently from foam. The aim is to fill the cover properly while keeping the soft, relaxed look these cushions are designed for.
Daily Plumping & Maintenance
Feather and fibre cushions need regular care. They are not fit-and-forget products.
To keep them looking and feeling their best, cushions should be plumped, shaken and turned daily. This helps redistribute the filling, maintain support, restore shape and prevent flat or uneven areas.
If you want a firm, structured cushion with minimal maintenance, foam may be the better option. If you prefer a softer, fuller and more relaxed cushion — and you are happy to dress it regularly — feather or fibre is a lovely choice.
Made to Measure for Existing Cushion Covers
These replacement cushion interiors are made for customers who already have covers and need new inserts made to fit.
Simply choose the correct cushion shape, enter your cover measurements, select your preferred filling and place your order. We will calculate the correct filling level internally based on the details provided.
For shaped cushions, unusual covers or customers changing from foam to feather or fibre, please contact us before ordering so we can advise on the best approach.
Need Help Choosing?
If you are unsure which shape, filling or cushion type to choose, please contact us before placing your order.
The right feather or fibre cushion can transform the look and comfort of a sofa or chair, but the best result depends on accurate measurements, the correct filling choice and realistic expectations about daily plumping and maintenance.
